Expeditions in the USA, North America, The Caribbean, and Beyond

It is a well-known fact that disasters strike in all regions all over the world. What is often not known is the sheer cost of destruction and clean-up, the unfortunate reality that can go on for weeks, months, years sometimes a decade. (Just look at Haiti) The emotional toll is often not as well documented and this is yet another reason why it is SO important that (in some form or fashion) ‘help is on the way’. Beyond our care and business model; ART Delivers Hope!
Presently we are focused on the following areas and or destinations:

Puerto Rico, U.S. Territory

USA: The State of Florida

USA: The State of Georgia

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our expeditions had been on hold in 2020 and 2021. We are coordinating site visits for 2022 and will update this page with specifics, needs, and images of affected areas. Meanwhile, you can support us by making a gift, donation, and or purchasing a piece of art. (*)

Puerto Rico:

Puerto Rico is a Caribbean Island and unincorporated U.S. territory with a landscape of mountains, waterfalls, and the El Yunque tropical rainforest. In San Juan, the capital and largest city, the Isla Verde area is known for its hotel strip, beach bars, and casinos. Its Old San Juan neighborhood features colorful Spanish colonial buildings and El Morro and La Fortaleza, massive, centuries-old fortresses.

The Florida Keys

The Florida Keys are a string of tropical islands stretching about 120 miles off the southern tip of the U.S. state of Florida, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. They’re known as a destination for fishing, boating, snorkeling, and scuba diving. The southernmost city of Key West is famous for Duval Street’s many bars, Mallory Square’s nightly Sunset Celebration, and the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum

Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma struck the Florida Keys on Sept. 10, 2017, as a category 4 storm with maximum sustained winds of 132 mph and storm surge up to 8 feet in the hardest-hit areas in the Lower and Middle Keys. Due to the linear geography of the island chain, some parts of the Keys were hit harder than others.
Irma is the fifth-costliest hurricane to hit the mainland United States, causing an estimated $50 billion in damage, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The State of Florida Hurricane Mitchel – October 10, 2018

https://www.weather.gov/ffc/2018_hurricane_michael

Hurricane Michael made landfall along the Florida panhandle near Panama City on the afternoon of October 10, 2018, as an extremely dangerous Category 5 hurricane. Michael was only the 4th Category 5 hurricane to make landfall in the U.S. since 1850 and the first since Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Michael then moved rapidly inland, causing widespread wind damage along its path.

Hurricane Michael was the strongest hurricane on record to make landfall along the Florida panhandle as well as the first major hurricane (Category 3+) to directly impact Georgia since the 1890s. In southwest Georgia, wind gusts as high as 115 mph were recorded in Donalsonville.

How much did hurricane Michael cost in damage?

10, 2018. The devastation was unprecedented: Michael nearly wiped Mexico Beach and parts of Panama City off the map with wind and storm surges and spread damage far inland. Michael was directly responsible for 16 deaths and about $25 billion in damage in the United States, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The State of Georgia and Metro Atlanta Georgia

Within the NWS Atlanta/Peachtree City county warning area, winds gusted over 70 mph in portions of central Georgia on the evening of October 10th, leading to widespread tree damage and power outages as well as severe crop damage, especially to cotton and pecan crops. Additionally, a few brief tornadoes in the outer bands of Michael caused sporadic damage in portions of the area while heavy rainfall led to localized flooding. Michael quickly exited the state as a tropical storm on the morning of October 11th.
